I know there were a couple of threads a few months ago on here about this guy and the concensus was fairly luke warm. Anyway, from that same event with thomas lang and the black page is benny playing some AMAZING drums. He does have a couple of hitches, but some of the grooves he gets into are incredible and his feet are unbelievable. Check these 2 clips out. He starts out with bare hands, goes to brushes, but by the second clip he's on sticks and absolutely burning.

I must say I prefer the second clip.
-Once the sticks come into play he developes some very creative fills.
-Very solid groove with only some minor mistakes.

Actually, have the whole lot and check out mike terrana too, he's incredible. Like a cross between simon phillips and bozzio I guess. He plays to 2 great tracks.

Wow - I've just watched the first clip. This guy can really play, what amazing touch and feel and so tasteful and musical. A lovely sense of form too..... If this is what he's like with his hands and brushes - I can't wait to hear him with sticks!

Just seen the second vid!!! This guy is AMAZING. He's got so much down and what a feel. He reminds me of Dicenso, in his approach. Totally musical, powerful and yet so dynamic. What a great sense of groove too. Thanks for the 'heads up' Rudy. Can't wait to hear more of him now.

(regarding Terrana...)Even though I see what you mean by the Bozzio link, (in the bassdrum+cymbals vs snare 32'nd notes) I feel he more resembles Portnoy in that stiff execution. The ideas are quite predictably played out. I would certainly not put him up amongst Bozzio or Si-Phi...
Benjamin is getting better and better.
Saw him with in 2000 for the first time with his then percussion duo. He's been practicing alot. VERY nice guy. Not very german...(Just kidding)

I liked his unique/creative approach to the kit... but yeah there were a lot of "holes" in his performance which I'm sure one day will be smoothed out. He is in some good company though! Must be intimidating playing the same clinic as LANG! And what's with that weird little booth they are performing in!? Is this onboard some alien spacecraft or something!?
Oh yeah and I loved his grooves, he should have done more!

benny is playing at this year's DRUMMER LIVE event - along with jojo mayer and others.
check out the new drummer mag (came out yesterday) with thomas lang on the cover (great article btw mark!!) and the line up is in there.

i've been there and saw benny play on all four days of the frankfurter musikmesse.
i realy like his way of playing and the way he entertains his audience ...
i like this videoclip from the messe but i have to say that this was not his best day. the show was at 9:30 a.m. and he was realy tired. ;-)
it's also funny that you can see me in the videoclip every time when the movinghead light runs up and donw every now and then. you can see me in the "mirroreffect" of the glas. im the one with the beig? (white) shirt. the first time you see me is just about 9 seconds into the first clip.
if you check out www.bennygreb.com there are always new videoclips. they were changened aproximatly every month. but its realy worth to check him out!!!
